Although this story is primarily Jack/Ianto, there's also a bit of Ianto/OMC (non-explicit).

The overall rating is NC-17, but the story takes time getting there.

Spoilers: Torchwood series 1.

This is the requisite ‘Jack’s back’ story.  It's been so long in the writing that when I began I had no concept of Martha so please don't be surprised by her absence in the brief glimpses of Doctor Who this story contains.  Likewise, any Jack revelations from Who, series three, have passed this story by.

After much flailing and many headaches over the Who/Torchwood timeline, I’ve taken the date on the Missing poster of Jack [Torchwood Hub] as a starting point for the chronology of this story, and assumed the ‘Early February’ when Jack disappeared was February 2008.

Attrition was written at the behest of The Venerable Sidekick, and to his specifications ~ I love you dearly, GB, now shove off!

The alternate ending – the Director’s cut, as it were – was written with the very welcome and much appreciated encouragement of kingbantam.  This is how Attrition would have ended if I hadn't been following orders.
