Chapter Rating: R

Pairing: Sherlock Holmes & John Watson

Disclaimer: The characters are in the public domain. I earn nothing beyond enjoyment from playing with them.

Summary: This “missing scene” ficlet occurs during the case of “The Man with the Twisted Lip.” It follows the alternate universe Granada series episode rather than canon as it is far more convenient to have Watson unmarried. The fic was prompted by a single word intoned off-camera and quite suggestively by an inspired Jeremy Brett while his Holmes does something quite rare: reads something to Watson. Normally, the reverse occurs. Edward Hardwicke’s Watson does an award-worthy double-take before ducking his head (safely) toward his notebook. It is all subtly slashy, but addicts indulge the vice where they may. My title was originally intended as a working one … phone humor does not get universal chuckles. But I began to cotton to the layered meaning … communication leading to connection leading to fervent monkey sex leading to … a canonical roomful of smoke and a potent ejaculation.

Notes: Bolding indicates end notes. All dialogue in italics is verbatim from the episode; that which is not ACD is courtesy of dramatist, Alan Plater. What is mine … you already know.
