“I’m fine here, really! Buffy’ll be back any second--” Xander wasn’t about to
meet Jesse’s fate. In what was possibly the most suicidal move *ever*, he
brought an arm forward to elbow the vampire in the gut. Before he could follow
through, the human was suddenly aware of a presence behind
them.

”Ahem...” A female voice
floated from over Spike’s shoulder and he turned to look. A stunning Indian
woman stood there, watching the men with interest. She wore her blue-black hair
parted in the center and cut in a severe bob just under her chin. As she glided
to the other side of the table to face them, he realized that this was not a
human. If he didn’t know better, he’d say she was just a girl of fifteen or so,
but her large, intense eyes revealed that she was much older.
The woman
seemed to ooze sexuality and strength.
The girl raised a heavily cuffed
hand in a small ‘hello’ wave to Xander. Her arms and neck were covered in black
beads and leather collars of all assortments, and she wore a simple black tank
top and skirt, adorned with chains, leather belts and studded straps.
“William the Bloody. I knew I’d find you here.” Her outfit rattled as
the woman sat down.
“Good for you, now do you mind *shoving the hell
off*!? I’m trying to instill terror here.” He looked around as though saying ‘no
bloody manners!’
“You may call me Priya, and I--” she smirked, “I
collect stories--it’s a fetish-- and I know for a fact that you have an
interesting one to tell.” Priya placed a glass dome that looked a little like a
snow globe on the table
“Don’t feel like chatting, luv. I ordered this
meal to go…”
She pursed her lips--which were painted black--then rolled
her eyes and continued, “Actually, you’ll like this. It’s a Vimurth.” She
caressed the dome as she spoke. “It sees parts of the future and all I want for
you to do is look at it.”
“And what do you get out of this?” Spike raised
an eyebrow at her.
“When it shows you the future, I get a peek. Since
I’m not involved in anything in this dimension, nothing you see affects me. I
just get another story to add to my collection.”
“So what you’re saying
is that you want to tell me my future, and all you want in return is to stay and
watch?” The blonde vampire was curious, but skeptical.
“That’s exactly
it—only the offer’s open to the kid as well.” She cut her eyes at Xander, who
stared at her like a deer caught in headlights.
“Not a problem.” Spike
shook Xander gently and sneered, “--Since *his* future won’t extend past
tonight…”
The human gulped.
“But I have to warn you. It can be
intense—the visions are vague, but you can feel each one like they’re happening
to you right now. It’s a thrill, but then I’m not seeing my future.” She turned
a radiant smile at them.
“How do I know you’re not gonna put some mojo
on me?”
“Want proof? Like a sample? Here…” She touched his arm and put
one of her hands on the Vimurth.
Spike and Xander’s eyes glazed as the
vision hit.
